Black and White Inspiration

I asked my daughter to bring home the quilt I made for her high school graduation in 2004.

It all started with this fashion Vogue fabric by Alexander Henry. I chose the pattern with her approval

and she chose the pinks for the "spiral". I took a class to make this quilt and it's actually very easy. Varying the shades and placement of the pinks against the black and white background makes the "spiral" really pop. The back of the quilt is HOT PINK flannel. The color combination was inspired by a pair of converse tennis shoes.
I probably will not use pink as my third color.

I've been thinking that pink, may be my third color . . . your quilt is beautiful! Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for the inspiration Stephanie. At the moment outside is a bit black and white with trees silhouetted against a sullen sky. I think it could do with some of your hot pink out there. :-)

I haven't seen a pattern like this before. Does it have a name? I am amazed at the folklore that goes with the name of some of these patches.

Stephanie, I absolutely love this quilt! Hot pink, like Jane, is one of my favorites. It is a terrific pattern. I bet your daughter really loves it!!
