At last!!I did complete a B & W & Pink quilt in 2009 for a girl friend's 40th birthday, but did not take any photos before I gave it to her. I will one day co-ordinate to have camera and remember to take a pic when I am at her house. Until then, this is a progress shot that I took along the way. (The white squares actually contain a flower stitchery pattern, stitched in black)<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvtlw3IYtcAFhBpSbZdz51QnS1N8m8wWC34V0cUh2JZerdgxJ-aELOC-KqWXgTgCUOeWV5K7LAH6RCKfluWyqcDSSsybc9XIWBhDc4LLhte8hGAIK6X07suN31E_N1VbGQbGdLsqC2zVaT/s1600-h/SANY0596.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvtlw3IYtcAFhBpSbZdz51QnS1N8m8wWC34V0cUh2JZerdgxJ-aELOC-KqWXgTgCUOeWV5K7LAH6RCKfluWyqcDSSsybc9XIWBhDc4LLhte8hGAIK6X07suN31E_N1VbGQbGdLsqC2zVaT/s400/SANY0596.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432442076629066306" border="0" /></a>For the same friend, I made this cute wall hanging for her new home.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxncXSOdohZ8NIo1PjKLggy0BQIqqKIjdHp17Bpwc36TJlWfjumg80c7NgKABGug-lvGLnHV-_1fHGeXeMe_I4mi5ULMMoXu8QGX5jS5qDTZI5JQm-qTSIMqso4VOQ5t5Kj5nTbN80i_ze/s1600-h/SANY0595.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxncXSOdohZ8NIo1PjKLggy0BQIqqKIjdHp17Bpwc36TJlWfjumg80c7NgKABGug-lvGLnHV-_1fHGeXeMe_I4mi5ULMMoXu8QGX5jS5qDTZI5JQm-qTSIMqso4VOQ5t5Kj5nTbN80i_ze/s400/SANY0595.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432442836163325522" border="0" /></a>I also made this top from the left over fabrics from the first quilt. It was understood the 1st and 2nd place became the property of Keepsake Quilting. My entry won 2nd place which is awesome but I miss my quilt!! I was able to see it recently at a area quilt show and decided to remake the quilt but with my rules. I changed the size from square to rectangle and was not limited to only 6 fabrics. I appliqued using the raw edge fused technique. It was machine quilted on my commercial sewing machine. I used red metallic thread to create the woman's strands of hair. I embellished the quilt with rhinestones, glitter, fabric paint and small silk flowers. I love the red polka dots on the eye lids and wanted to use more of it but it didn't work since I had so much red in the quilt already. I like the "dreamy" look the woman casts. Check out my website <a href="http://www.laurieceesay.com/">www.laurieceesay.com</a> to see more of my work. lol</div>Lauriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07178707835027002212noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-844365052056957288.post-64999231832909820252010-01-01T09:55:00.002-05:002010-01-01T10:02:29.282-05:00Happy New Year and Black and White Status Update.<div>Hello Everyone,</div><div><br /></div><div>I wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful works that you have put together over the year!! This little quilt measured 24x24 that I made for a quilt swap. It is now with its new owner and she is very happy with it. I will be making a full size quilt in the coming year. I have really enjoyed looking at all the lovely quilts and bags that have been made. Can't wait to see what everyone does this coming year with the theme.<br />

As I thought about it I decided I wanted it 'simple' and to have the BLACK as my dominate color without it being ALL black. Well, I guess it turned out simple enough and I made it about lap size. </div>I'm entering this as my challenge, although it doesn't quite meet the challenge requirements of black and white and one colour. This is black and white and bright , with lime green being the dominant colour and lots of others mixed in for good measure. It is 50 by 60 and still in the flimsy stage. I intend this to be machine quilted on a flannel backing, so it will be a cozy throw. I've been watching the rest of you do the challenge, and I couldn't limit myself to one colour. But I did collect b/w prints for the last several months, and cut into about half of them for this project. At last count, I used more than 50 fabrics in this quilt. Thanks Jackie for a great challenge, and for enlightening me in the path of black and white.<br />

After a lot of web surfing, magazine browsing and doodleing, and considering my limited stash of black and white fabrics I've decided on a wonky block format for a lap quilt / living room throw.</span><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_b2d6b-84FBE/SrUGnUVFkVI/AAAAAAAAA0c/CJoqh6vqmP8/s1600-h/B%26W+challenge+top+-+1st+half.JPG"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383216202133115218" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_b2d6b-84FBE/SrUGnUVFkVI/AAAAAAAAA0c/CJoqh6vqmP8/s400/B%26W+challenge+top+-+1st+half.JPG" /></span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"> One evening earlier this week I quickly pieced together seven of the centre panels. I have to say that this is a quick and economical block to use us a limited selection of fabrics for a decent sized top. Once the black sashing is added to each centre panel and the blocks squared up to 12.5" the minimum sized quilt will be about 36" x 48" (3x4 blocks). Above are half the blocks pieced together ready for batting/backing, as I propose to 'quilt as you go' each half of the top, but need to firstly use some of the remaining fabrics for a 'coin' stirp across the backing panel - just to zest it up a bit.<br /></span><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_b2d6b-84FBE/SrUGm0rlSII/AAAAAAAAA0U/B4BtfaJgnps/s1600-h/B%26W+challenge+blocks.JPG"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383216193637533826" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_b2d6b-84FBE/SrUGm0rlSII/AAAAAAAAA0U/B4BtfaJgnps/s400/B%26W+challenge+blocks.JPG" /></span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"> Here are the other six blocks ready to be sashed up.</span> <br /><br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_b2d6b-84FBE/SrUGCEnLhmI/AAAAAAAAA0M/rmglamuLlH0/s1600-h/signature+box.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 75px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383215562258876002" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_b2d6b-84FBE/SrUGCEnLhmI/AAAAAAAAA0M/rmglamuLlH0/s200/signature+box.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05386852386404591819noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-844365052056957288.post-4910825903839099712009-09-10T09:22:00.003-04:002009-09-10T09:24:25.187-04:00Almost done<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR3lwEPTdnqVEHGmDvzuNrl-UZuR2cwQn8a7wbIZhrXcYytZw_C70tMsSbscMKGop1qYqZsiNea-ztopUw0aBVo926g1HLwPp9jvKhfcP_KmVaXCHWOAwswxyIfca3bYoFgojGxi2QCRj8/s1600-h/bw.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379828866305659266" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 212px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR3lwEPTdnqVEHGmDvzuNrl-UZuR2cwQn8a7wbIZhrXcYytZw_C70tMsSbscMKGop1qYqZsiNea-ztopUw0aBVo926g1HLwPp9jvKhfcP_KmVaXCHWOAwswxyIfca3bYoFgojGxi2QCRj8/s320/bw.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Well I knows this is not the best picture but FINALLY got this quilt almost done i will take some more this week .this quilt has got some story to,...have a good week...</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-844365052056957288.post-74563279657545734742009-09-03T09:58:00.004-04:002009-09-03T10:04:45.328-04:00Kiwi KissesIt's not the black and white quilt I intended for this challenge...but I'm working on a lovely one that certainly qualifies...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7O2xZJxFCdsYJlZY8JAFWfbNJC3MeLLs5h80mpK4X5sVzT4lH0xRoIVM7sbQBewH77ssCay5B6D9GNCEzd_SOQxfQFdSjnjY_6X55m1kh5q1W8tjk5MVB_6mMG7cI3qdqQakWFJRnuz7C/s1600-h/DSCN3956.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 206px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7O2xZJxFCdsYJlZY8JAFWfbNJC3MeLLs5h80mpK4X5sVzT4lH0xRoIVM7sbQBewH77ssCay5B6D9GNCEzd_SOQxfQFdSjnjY_6X55m1kh5q1W8tjk5MVB_6mMG7cI3qdqQakWFJRnuz7C/s320/DSCN3956.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377240541996083106" border="0" /></a>Love this color combination!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUV6519f4w6hNdBr55MmAW-Yy1Oy4w6_jX8ht2vWH8AfUyycT7b_JEENVz_qhw-JCuaU5QCg24jtc9C6gTsTaesCft2rpkZFS-4kMFXgSrvqVMCdWxspCLjxoYzbslLFpuXqJNp3XKK2eN/s1600-h/DSCN3962.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUV6519f4w6hNdBr55MmAW-Yy1Oy4w6_jX8ht2vWH8AfUyycT7b_JEENVz_qhw-JCuaU5QCg24jtc9C6gTsTaesCft2rpkZFS-4kMFXgSrvqVMCdWxspCLjxoYzbslLFpuXqJNp3XKK2eN/s320/DSCN3962.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377240551257203330" border="0" /></a>I've blogged about <a href="http://threadsofconversation.blogspot.com/2009/09/happy-hour.html">here</a>.<br /><br />Happy quilting,<br /><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; color: rgb(51, 204, 0);">Doris in Des Moines</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-844365052056957288.post-55786463732785363992009-08-23T08:41:00.004-04:002009-08-23T08:45:06.825-04:00New Bag!<div>Hello Everyone,</div><div><br /></div><div>So I can't stop making these little bags!!
